EW50415FLY graphic display
Today I received a graphic display named EW50415FLY. There were no informations available on the net about this display, so all pin assignments are unknown. First of all I traced the onboard voltage inverter build with a 7660 IC. After this the Vee, Vo, Vdd and Vss were known and combined with the amount of 20 pins, the other were quite quickly identified. Many displays using the KS0108 controller use an 20 pin header interface and their pin assignment matches the already gathered informations. After a quick test using ATMega 16 on the STK500 and the code by ape the display was up and running.
LCD Pin | Direction | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | power | Vss (Gnd) |
| 02 | power | Vdd (Logic, 5V) |
| 03 | input | Vo Contrast, use a 10k VR between Vee and Vdd |
| 04 | input | Data/Instruction register selection (instruction is low active) |
| 05 | input | Read/Write selection (write is low active) |
| 06 | input | Enable signal |
| 07 | input/output | Data Bus 0 |
| 08 | input/output | Data Bus 1 |
| 09 | input/output | Data Bus 2 |
| 10 | input/output | Data Bus 3 |
| 11 | input/output | Data Bus 4 |
| 12 | input/output | Data Bus 5 |
| 13 | input/output | Data Bus 6 |
| 14 | input/output | Data Bus 7 |
| 15 | input | Chip Select 1 |
| 16 | input | Chip Select 2 |
| 17 | input | Reset signal (low active) |
| 18 | output | Vee |
| 19 | power | Backlight Anode |
| 20 | power | Backlight Cathode |
The backlight display is a LED display and has to be wired using a resistor to limit the current. The resistor should be in the range of 2.2 – 4.4 Ohms 1/2 watt. The pin 03 can be connected to a potentiometer between pin 18 (Vee output) and pin 02 (Vdd) for variegate the contrast.
Update
The Display is from EDT (Emerging Display Technologies Corporation). The datasheet is only available on request.
