I got a request about some scrolling and flickering of a Samsung VFD display used with MediaPortal. The flickering was quickly solved using the output buffering of the Samsung VFD driver. The scrolling problems seemed to be a problem of MediaPortal while testing my last version of the driver. But afterwards I found some differences in my last version of the driver to the last version offered here (v0.5b) for download. So I have just compiled the last version of the old Samsung VFD driver (v0.5c) and published it here for download. This version fixes the cursor position with any Samsung or Futuba devices using ANSI ESCape sequences.
In the MediaPortal forums rumoured a longer time about the bug in my driver. This was found while scrolling and other things. There are some threads about it, but nobody was able or willing to inform me about this fact. This just encourage me to not support MediaPortal in any kind in future. I am currently reprogramming basic parts of the driver and including some more information for each display (pin assignment, jumper settings, etc). Additionally I extended the support for a wider range of displays and changed the interface to the new LCDHype v0.7.5.x version. This interface is not (yet) compatible with MediaPortal and I am thinking of programmatically exclude MediaPortal as valid hosts for the DLL.
But there is a lot of stuff todo until the release of the new driver. Up to now I’ve got some other things todo and there is no need for a new version.
